What is a Day of The Dead Workshop?

These workshops are designed to teach children and adults about the traditions that are associated with Dia de los Muertos in Mexico. It offers the chance to:

  • Create paper marigold flowers used on the Ofrendas (altars)

  • Decorate a sugar skull mask often worn during the celebrations

  • Decorate an authentic sugar skull (made out of real sugar) with piping icings in honour of a love one no longer with us or just for fun

  • Listen to Mexican Music

  • Attend a mini assembly by Viva Los Muertos about the traditions of Dia de los Muertos

Viva Los Muertos has hosted Day of the Dead workshops in schools (up to 240 pupils), venues such as Arnos Vale Cemetery and The Tobacco Factory and during exhibitions. All items for the workshops are provided and cost varies depending on how many attend.
